Discovery Essential Smart

So I'm looking online for a medical aid for my partner and I. We promptly receive calls and information from Discovery about all their marvelous schemes and plans. "We can find the best plan for you!" they said. "Just tell us want you want your plan to do and what your budget is." Now, neither of us have huge salaries. Selecting a plan for two people, that gives us adequate Hospital cover and day to day cover proved quite difficult. We settled on the ESSENTIAL SMART plan. What a joke this plan has turned out to be. What is the point of a medical aid if I have to pay cold hard cash every time I try use my membership number.

In my situation, they will cover the doctors fees for my next procedure, but they won't cover the hospital he would use to do the procedure. Bottom line, my co-payment is more expensive than the actual procedure. I've had to pay for multiple specialist appointments, abdominal x-rays, a CT, colonoscopy & gastroscopy. If I saved all our monthly premiums instead of paying Discovery for our excuse of a medical aid scheme, I wouldn't be 30k in debt.
