Discovery, does your business practices take precedence over my well-being.
Let me start by saying, I use to be on Coastal Saver, but with two kids and GP visits, my savings use to deplete quickly, so opted for the Keycare Plus for the unlimited doctor visits.
Currently I'm suffering from severe lower back pain, to the extent that at certain times it's the same as when I had kidney stones a few years back. Been back and forth to my GP who eventually referred me to a keycare urologist as I also have blood in my urine (I requested this urologist as he did my vasectomy also a few years back). The urologist who was fully booked till September was kind enough to squeeze me in due to the pain severity I am in, did a ultrasound scan and can't pick up kidney stones, so wanted to do an immediate CT scan and surgery to also see where the bleeding is coming from. At this point the urologist is very concerned. But because the urologist does surgical procedures out of N1 City Netcare (which is not a keycare plan hospital), despite the doctors request to waiver, medical aid declined. Now the urologist is referring me to another urologist at Melomed of which they will only see me in two weeks time.
I now need to endure pain for another two weeks because medical aid doesn't want to put the well-being of their clients first. I understand that there are business practices and policies that need to be followed, but sometimes the well-being of the client can take precedence. Does the medical aid ever consider how mentally taxing this can be for their client, that there could actually be something seriously medically wrong.
I've never had any issue with Discovery and been very loyal over the years, but this has not impressed me one bit.
