Discovery, DO BETTER.

Quiet disappointed in Discovery South Africa. I had my baby in May 2025 via emergency c-section, due to complications. I was admitted into Pretoria East hospital and had to pay the hefty co-payment due to it not being part of the Discovery Network. I was later advised that because it was an emergency there would be no co-payment as per the clause in the contract stating that in the event of an emergency, any hospital can be used and co-payment be waived.

When I contacted them and explained the situation, they advised that it shouldn't be a problem to be reimbursed, I just need to get a report from my gynecologist explaining what had happened as well as various other paperwork, which I did. They got back to me and advised the report wasn't clear enough, I need to send another, which I did. After calling them due to hearing nothing back after that, I was advised that the report doesn't give enough detail as to how the situation was life threatening... Because apparently a baby being wrapped in the umbilical cord TWICE, and stuck in the birth canal for 36 hours, is not life threatening enough for them.

To add insult to injury, they are now telling me that I OWE THEM for services rendered. What is actually going on? Am I delusional or does something not add up?
