Discovery Classic Smart Plan Nightmare

My employer imposed this Discovery medical aid on me, I have my wife and son on the plan and it's the worst medical aid plan you can ever be on. You have to pay for over the counter medicine and guess how much you get for over the counter medicine in a year, a whopping R600, while you contribute R3500 per month. My son's leg was swollen and had to take him to the hospital, it was late so we took him to Medi-Clinic. I only find out after the fact that Discovery will not pay a cent since my son was not admitted. When I spoke to one of their customer service consultant he told I should only take my son to the hospital only if I'm sure it's an emergency, mind you I'm not a medical doctor and as a concerned parent I cannot watch my child suffer just because of the restrictions on this plan. After they send me an email that I have to pay, I receive a separate email informing me that a certain code does not exist for the radiology claim so I have to advice my provider to submit an amended claim. I called Discovery and I was told, no I actually have to cover those costs myself. Basically it was useless to go to Medi Clinic and claim that I have a medical aid. I could have just saved myself some money monthly, they wouldn't be these problems. I don't even trust that if ever I become hospitalized they will cover everything. If you're looking for medical aid, do yourself a favour and stay FAR AWAY from this plan or Discovery for that matter. USELESS!!!!
