Discovery and Apple Hidden terms to Apple Watch
I have had a terrible experience with Discovery and with Apple but my complaint is more towards Discovery considering I took the contract of the Apple Watch through them. I purchased the Apple Watch 3 when it launched last year. Being a fitness watch that supposed to serve to track all fitness activities throughout the day, I wear my watch all the time unless it needs to be charged. I noticed scratches occur quickly easily on my watch screen and have emailed Apple regarding this as well as the fact that the heart takes quite some time to pick up during my exercises. The hairline scratches eventually led to a crack on the screen and I took the watch to Apple, as this screen is advertised to be made of sapphire glass and is virtually impossible to scratch. Apple quotes me R4500 to replace the screen. Then I call Discovery who claims I am liable for this cost and if I cancel the contract with them I have to pay in R4800 to them.
This is ridiculous, both on Apple and Discovery side. Firstly Apple for claiming to sell high quality versatile watch that clearly isn’t that and Secondly Discovery, having you sign a contract and meet goals for a watch that’s paid for by your goal targets, but when the watch is not meeting the standards then it’s your problem. So in paying Apple to replace and to pay Discovery to cancel would cost R9000...Apple Watch 3 after a year.
