Discovery aim to make things too complicated so that you don't use their benefits
Disappointed with the process and outcome of an annual over 65 health check. Half hour long phone call to Discovery help desk to find out the process to get a simple annual check up. That leads to another half hour call to Dischem to book an appointment. At the Dischem appointment my cholesterol is a bit elevated so I need a further check to get LDL & HDL figures, that's fine. The readings of the latter test are outside the (good) limits that can be input on the Discovery system so the nurse simply lies and puts in another number. The print out notes that I need to consult my doctor but my results are very good! The print out also tells me that my systolic BP should be less than 90! (It is the diastolic that should be less than 90) The print out also tells me that my height should be less than 102cm! I asked for a PSA test but get none and no referral - this means I have to pay a GP or specialist, not Discovery. I ask for the over 65 tests but Dischem does not have the equipment although that is what I booked for. So it has taken well over two hours of my time to get less that half the tests, get nonsense results and get no referral. Clearly a case of Discovery simply trying to make things so difficult and complicated that I simply give up and pay for the service that I want from someone other than Discovery.
