Discover Health very unhelpful
I phoned discovery today on behalf of an 80 year old family member and was greeted with their answering message, that 1) Did not give an option that had anything to do with what I was calling about. 2) The message came to an end and didn't give the option to speak to an operator. I was forced to select one of the irrelevant options only to be faced with another batch of irrelevant options to select. Thank heavens that at the end the second set of options I was finally given the option to speak to an operator.
Once talking to the operator I advised her that the answering system, is extremely unhelpful. I then presented my query and then was asked for the members details, which I didn't have, but was not actually required as the query was about the "KeyCare Product itself.
To add insult to injury the operator proceeded to tell me that the option to speak to an operator was given off the first list of options, which it wasn't. Then after a long angry argument I was advised that I wasn't even through to the right place for the query. This goes back to the fact that the options provided are not intuitive and are in fact very unhelpful.
Here's the shocking bit. Once transferred to the Keycare Department I was advised that a Keycare patient had only one choice of "chosen GP" and that Discovery would not pay for a doctor consultation if it wasn't the "Chosen GP" even in an emergency.
What scares me more is if I think this through to the conclusion, is that if the "Chosen GP" is unavailable Discovery will leave the patient to suffer the consequences and they will not pay for any other Doctor.
