Di****ery Health kick you whilst you’re fown

My husband died in a head on collision on 2 November 2018. He had defaulted on 2 payments to Discovery Health and therefore myself and my 3 children were not covered for medical aid. It has taken me 3 months to get back on it and I have been ********** to the tune of R60000.00 to get back on the scheme. I was forced to stay on the same policy when I wanted to cancel it and start a new one. I was told that I had a pre-existing condition (depression) therefore my children would not receive trauma counseling if I didn’t stay on the same policy.

The 2 so called brokers who were supposed to help me have ripped me off completely.

Initially after a bad experience with my husbands so called broker I was referred to a man apparently ‘ ‘high up’ inDiscovery. He took over all of my investments and medical aid plan with Discovery. He told me I would have to pay R28000 to get back on the same policy.

I then wrote to Adrian Gore but got no answer. One of the brokers got wind of this and they played me sending me another phony broker to get me back on the policy.

This time I was told that I would have to pay R31260 to get back on the scheme and so I did. I was also told I would then pay R8750 for myself and my 3 kids going forward. Discovery then debited me R22800 on 1 February 2019.

So you’re telling me it costs R60000.00 to get back on the same policy? And why? I could take my children for trauma counseling at R600.00 per session for 100 sessions and not wait 3 months to do it it I hadn’t been ****med by these so called Discovery brokers.

What is going on Discovery???? I want answers. I have called endlessly and got no joy. Next will be the medical council!
