Disappointing "FREE" health check cost R1000

Would really like some clarification from Discovery. They took up a stall at the last minute at our FREE Wellness Day event on 10 October 2026. They were very graciously allowed to put up a tent. They were the only stall without a name tag printed as it was so last minute. They were told very clearly that this was a FREE service to all our residents who are vulnerable, elderly and cannot otherwise afford medical care or transport to get to hospitals and wait in long queues. ALL our service providers gave their services free of charge. We had 5 stalls doing free blood-sugar testing, pressure testing and other screenings. Free pap smears and prostrate cancer screenings were done, as well as free optometrist services, cholesterol, counselling, HIV/AIDS testing, breast cancer and a host of other free services. However to my dismay, I received reports that people have now received their Discovery Statements, only to find that R1000 was deducted from their benefit schedules. The lady who presented the checks or whatever, asked for people's *** and even told them that they would only be helped if they were Discovery clients. We were not told this. We would have rejected her if this was so, because the free service was meant for ALL residents. Anyway, after taking all their information, without their consent, the money was deducted or rather paid out to a service provider (A pharmacy) who was NOT present at the event, who didn't conduct any form of testing or screening, and who we never heard of. My question is whether this is ********** or not? After all Discovery has paid out to a pharmacy for a service that it did NOT render. Can Discovery please investigate and contact me urgently to clarify this issue as is it very unpleasant if our elderly or vulnerable citizens are exploited at an event that is supposed to be completely FREE. I have proof of the payment being made by Discovery to the pharmacy. I do not want to mention the pharmacy, but I can tell you the name once you contact me. I hope that someone mans the complaints line and will get back to me.
