Disappointed customer
I am really disappointed in the service received from Discovery after being a member over 10 years. I lost my job last year, I was not able to make payments for the month of October, November and December. In January I called requesting re-instatement. I spoke to different call centre agents who each gave me a different amount I need to pay for the re-instatement. I then decided to go through my broker as this was frustrating. An email was send to my broker with a breakdown of what I need to pay. I made the payment and completed the health declaration form. This was acknowledged via email and got a confirmation email from Discovery confirming that my medical aid membership has been re-instated and a membership certificate was send to me. A week ago I received a call from Discovery, the consultant advised that I owe discovery and my membership will be suspended. The amount he advised on was not in line with my plan. I advised that that is incorrect I even got a breakdown from Discovery with the amount I was supposed to pay in January. He advised that he goes with what is on the system. I advised him that I will refer this to my broker. My broker escalated to Discovery. In the response to me Discovery gave a different figure yet again. And they even informed me that I had made an arrangement for my account to be debited with that amount. This made me really upset and questioning the integrity of the consultant who contacted me. At no point did I agree to have that amount debited from my account. I advised the consultant that I will refer the matter to my broker who will follow up. It is really confusing that I got an email from discovery with the medical certificate confirming re-instatement and then getting a call informing me that I owe them.
