DIACOVERY HEALTH NOT AUTHORIZING MY 6 MONTH OLD SONS ADMISSION

Yesterday May 21st 2025, my 6 month old son was admitted by his Pediatrician to Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital. Upon admission at Reception with nearly a 3-4 hour waiting time they turned us back on the basis of Discovery consultants advising that any newborn under the age of 1 years old receiving a penalty of a 8 working hour delay in authorization from the scheme.

Now, because of the hospital staffs incompetence, there was a delay in providing accurate information and therefore a delay in getting the medical assessment form through to his Pediatrician to fill and sign and hopefully speed up the process.

Now if we "WANTED" our son to be admitted prior to the admission the hospital expected a R25 000 cash payment upfront.

Considering the above-mentioned I Will hold Discovery Health Medical Scheme liable for any further damage caused to my sons health in the name of him not being admitted due to this 8 working hour day that the Discovery consultants advised that he "unfortunately" has to undergo. I have personally spoken to 2 consultants and 1 via Pre Auth who advised that the delay could take "DAYS".

I HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN TREATED SO BADLY LET ALONE MY SON WHO NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION. THIS IS THE SICKEST & WORST MEDICAL AID SCHEME EVER.
