Diabetic who needs help

My husband is diabetic. We are with Discovery and in the last two years we had to change his insulin because we cannot afford a co-payment. For him to adjust to new insulin took a very long time. Now they have changed the insulin again with no other option for us. Our doctor have spoken to them and there is nothing we can do? My husband need his insulin? Who will be responsible if something happens? If we cannot afford this what are we to do? My husband work, he cannot go sit at a clinic to get his insulin. I am more than willing to do this but they won't give me insulin if I am not the patient. I am upset with medical aid because they have no alternative for us without any co-payment. Also why do they change insulin yearly? Please help us solve this.
