Depended Waiting Period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been with discovery medical aid since 2013, until I was retrenched at work and decide to carry on with them as I was happy with how they dealt with my previous claims and everything. so after I was retrenched I was only aware that the medical aid has been cancelled, i immediately app**** for again, and only found out that my daughter is pregnant now they telling they cant pay for her hospital or pregnancy's programme which they already approved. why was the program approved and paid the specialist if only now they say am on waiting period???????????? am so ****ed at Discovery as I though it was a reputable company. and the lady I spoke to tell me I only joined in January 2023 but money was deducted in December 2022.

15 Feb 2023, 11:58I've been trying to get help from consultants, I made a application on the 12th of December 2022, which it was not even 90 days gap they talking about. I even asked Sibongile Ngwenya if I will be on waiting period she said no, so am surprised that am now on waiting period. and I used old membership when I visited Dr Sekobolo and Dr Ntuka thinking my medical was reinstated. So please fix this problem as I need doctors to be paid and get authorization.

17 Feb 2023, 11:16Can someone please help me with this misunderstanding I have with Discovery Health, I have been explaining one thing for a week now, my questions are 1: why would I apply for new membership when I was a member already? 2: why would I use my old membership number if I knew I app**** for membership? 3: I called in even before 90 days they referring to over, so why didn't Bongi Ngwenya picked it up that I was an existing member with arrears? 4: Why didn't she advise to reinstate if she was when the underwriter said I owe R1900.00 to the medical aid? If I wanted to leave Discovery why did I call them to explain my situation of retrenchment? all am asking is reinstatement. maybe my statement to her was not what discovery was looking for, when I said I want to carry on with the medical aid, apparently it was a wrong phrase to use. If am struggling like this I wonder how many people are struggling due to lack of competency of your consultants.
