Delta the big ****

So a little bit of info about how little Discovery Health takes care of their members health. I looked up a fully covered orthopaedic surgeon on the Discovery website and went for my doctors consult this morning. It was an emergency consult since I have a septic bursar in my elbow. Since I have had a knee replacement I have to be extremely careful of any infection as this could result in a rejection of tge prosthesis. I am on the Delta network Delta Saver Classic. I then discovered that the doctor who I had chosen who specializes in shoulder and elbow could not do the op I need urgently at the hospital he operates at. He tried at the Sports Science Institute which is covered by Delta but they do not have the equipment to do the surgery I need and therefore could not accomodate me. Following this I called Discovery as I could not find a single orthopedic surgeon with elbow speciality who has a payment arrangement with Discovery and actually works at a Delta hospital.The call centre agent was very good and suggested Dr Hosken at Life Vincent Pallotti. My original doctor was kind enough to speak to Dr Hosken who as a favour has said I should come to the hospital at eight tommorow morning and I will need to wait to see if they can fit me in.The call centre gave me the option of going to Athlone to Dr Makan but again there is no guarantee she would be able to assist me let alone the obvious dangers of a single woman going into an area which is not exactly safe all for the sake of the Delta option.I am on the Delta option which is what I can afford so I ask you Mr Gore why are there no doctors on payment arrangements at Delta Hospitals. If I can only afford this Delta option why does Discovery Health in their wildest dreams think I can afford a R7500 co payment. The delta network is nothing but a **** if you dont land up paying in for the hospital ypu have to pay in for the doctor. Either way you lose as the member. Discovery Health this is not quality healthcare when you do not support the hospitals which do have doctors on payment arrangements and vice versa. Funny thing is though if I dont have this procedure urgently I stand the risk of the infection spreading to my knee which would cost Discovery a lot more money or I could die from septic shock.
