**************** and pathetic service from Discovery yet again
On the 14th of February by husband had an operation which discovery approved. When we received the Dr bill, discovery had only paid about 23% of the bill. So i called discovery and was told i would require motivation from the Dr for an additional payment to be paid, which i went about getting at my own cost and time. After they received the letter from the Dr, they then requested clinical data which again i had to get at my own cost and time. They then come back and say sorry we cannot approve additional payment as it was not an emergency procedure. Like really why couldn't they have said that in the first place as the hospital and Dr rooms app**** for the approvals. I could understand a 20 -30% shortfall on the account as Dr do charge above medical aid rates but only 23% of the Dr bill was paid. An emergency operation for sinusitis really , i don't think anyone in this world has an emergency sinusitis operation. And what is classified as an emergency ???? My husband has been to the Dr over 10 times in the last year for recurrent infections, had a CT scan which confirmed he desperately required the operation as it was affecting his day to day life and his body was not responding to treatment which was clearly stated by the Dr. If this is not an emergency then what is???? This is **************** considering the cost of having medical aid, i get told this is the prescribed minimum benefit, paying 23% of the operation, that is utterly pathetic
