Day-2-Day Extender Benefit is not really an additional benefit????
I specifically decided to stay on the Classic Saver Delta Option as it has the Day-2-Day Extender Benefit. As per the brochure - it allows me 6 additional consultations for my family. I had to visit the GP last week, on which I was informed that the consultation was not covered as my MSA is exhausted. I logged a query with Discovery to confirm why it was not paid from the DEB. I was phoned back to explain that I first had to go to the pharmacy (but my MSA is exhausted - so how would you have seen that I was / wasn't). So, I did that and received symptomatic treatment, but after it persisted for 5 days I went to the GP. As you can see from my claims history - I had a blood clot and as the pain in my chest was the same, I went to my GP that knows my history (which are on the network). The consultant confirmed that I first had to do a video call consultation and they had to refer me ---- how does that make sense? My doctor examined me by listening to my heart, checking my throat and basically excluding that I had to take the Xarelto again? So, Discovery will pay for the Pharmacy Consultation, Then the Video Call GP and then only my GP. My GP that have assisted me through Covid and my blood clot and the treatment thereafter? Furthermore, will that then deduct 3 of my so called DEB visits? Why will I then stay on the Saver option - if this DEB benefit is actually just for show?
