Customer Mislead on Query
I resigned from the medical aid effective 30 September 2015 as starting a new job and other medical aid at this employer. I called in yesterday to query if I could still use the funds in my savings which was just over R1000 and the consultant confirmed it would be active to use.<br> <br> I then called specsavers advising them that they could process the claim as confirmed with the consultant ,but today after I called regarding the call from Specsavers saying that they could not process the claim as only provisioned for R78 ,they advised it was a mistake and that the reversal of unused funds was not correctly advised. I payed R5130 for the past 3 months and wont be using their benefits that they deducted funds for ,but have to loose and payin after I was told I could advise Specsavers to proceed with the claim.<br> <br> So disappointed ,money making business.<br> <br> Naeema

I investigated the concerns you raised and confirmed that the Medical Savings Account (MSA) balance that was confirmed, was before your membership withdrawal was finalized. Once the withdrawal was finalized, our system automatically works out the MSA that you will not be contributing towards. The MSA is a fixed amount that the Scheme gives you at the beginning of the year for day-to-day medical expenses. You pay this amount back to us in 12 equal monthly instalments but, if necessary, you are free to use the whole amount at the beginning of the year to pay for valid medical expenses. The 12 instalments form part of your monthly contribution. If you leave the Scheme part-way through the year, we calculate how much of the MSA you have used and how much you have contributed to it. Your final MSA balance was R78.00.
