CT Scan Claim

I had a CT scan as part of an emergency on 27 January 2018. Two CT scans were conducted on one incident, claimed and paid from my savings account as set out below:

Scan 1 - R2228.60 Scan 2 - R3271.40

Discovery policy states the following: MRI and CT scans done out of hospital. We pay the first R2 750 for each scan from your available funds in your Medical Savings Account or Above Threshold Benefit. We pay the balance of the scan costs from the Hospital Benefit up to the Discovery Health Rate.

Now my experience starts on the 8th of February after placing an inbound call to the call center querying why a total amount of R5500 has been taken from my savings account and the answer is either I do not know, jip or we will investigate and revert with feedback within 2-3 working days.

I have made 7 inbound calls, spoken to 7 different agents and I have not yet received any feedback nor my query resolved.

My query as follow:

The first scan was less than R2750 at only amount of R2228.60, why then take R2750 from my savings account?? The second scan was R3271.40 where only R381.90 was paid from the hospital benefit.

My query has now been sent to the systems department (reference ********** 849).

Discovery is eager to deplete all the savings on your medical aid and not correct errors. What is the meaning of paying excessive amounts for medical aid if everything comes from your savings account and the rest of the year from your own pocket?
