Crossed lines
I had my wisdom teeth removed on 8th February and was told R3100 co-payment with the place I was having the procedure confirming this.
I later get an email from St Augustines saying that Discovery co-payment was R4800 and that I owed another R1710!
I have since called your call centre TWICE and both basically saying there is nothing they can do and I have to pay it because it was in a hospital, even though I was an outpatient and was in there for FOUR hours. Hardly a hospital stay.

I am shocked and appalled at the lack of compassion with this - the crossed lines when someone calls in stating they are having a procedure done and they have to pay a co-payment. I do not understand why I have medical aid when I get told the incorrect information and then get told \oh well you just have to pay extra\".

Yes I know what was claimed etc and everything went through but because I had my VERY short procedure in a HOSPITAL the co-payment is R4800 regardless.

I think this is ridiculous and now I have to pay an additional R1710 because of your mistake. I am honestly incredibly angry at this turn of events after having a great experience with you."
Thank you for your comment.
We confirmed that the procedure you are referring to has an upfront amount payable to the facility at which it is done. The amount differs from a clinic to a hospital facility.
We have discussed the details of the call you make mention of and trust that this has provided clarity.
