Covid Benefits they say

I tested positive for covid on Tuesday morning 29th June 2021. I took the initiative and contact my broker to find out how the covid benefits can be activated and since I am asthmatic, I supposedly qualify for an oximeter as well. My broker informed of the following extract from the Discovery Health e-booklet “Our dedicated Oximetry Support call centre will contact you via a phone call or SMS if you qualify for this pulse oximeter device” Today is the 1 July 2021 and I am still waiting for a call or even an sms and now out of pure desperation, I took the liberty to contact Discovery to remind them of their supposed benefits/promises. I can confirm that Discovery is fully aware that I tested positive as my data also reflects on the system. (On Tuesday already) We’ll after an almost 30 minute call, having to be sent from pillar to post…4th human later I was somehow then assisted. I spoke to a consultant named, Jacklene who told me that Discovery doesn’t call anyone to arrange for an oximeter (if eligible, like I am) and that she cannot tell me why the sms was not generated either. Wait for this, due to a backlog with oximeters I will have to either wait 5 – 7 working days to obtain this device. Guess what? By that time, I am almost ready to go back to work. I am hugely disappointed in the lack of service and care received from Discovery Health regarding this matter. Each month, many of your clients sacrifice huge sums of money to afford your premiums and when assistance should be granted, it’s a mission and a half for the member. I am deeply disappointed in the manner in which Discovery deals with covid positive cases.

Today marks exactly 7 days since i tested positive for covid and the wait continues. My attempt via HelloPeter indeed got some attention from Discovery Health and an oximeter has been approved (according to my knowledge, the Thursday). Upon contacting Discovery Health 30 minutes ago, it was apparently only approved on Saturday and it will take another 4-7 working days before a home delivery is done. Wow! Discovery Health, so much for monitoring my oxygen saturation during covid when the device is only planning to arrive weeks after a patient tests positive.
