Classic Comprehensive plan
I am currently on a classic comprehensive plan & have been since joining your medical aid in 2011. I am on the plan as I needed high oncology cover which is what the plan provided. However, as a result of surgery to my brain I have developed epilepsy which you covered from the chronic benefit. The medication that was prescribed at the time was epilim 500cr, my dose was later increased. My monthly claims for this drug was over R800 a month. the medication has side effects on females & I was then moved over on to lamictin. The original dose was 100mg as approved in 2015. The dose was then increased to 200mg in December last year and was still covered in full. NOTE: lamictins price is less than half of the epilim. medication cost. My dose of lamictin has now been increased to 250mg & now there is a levy on the monthly medication. I was informed by your staff that my doctor can appeal this &I am going ahead with that process. This is going to cost me about R400 which will come from my MSA & not the chronic benefit. I pay over R4000 a month as my premium and I am disgusted that I now have to fork out savings to get my medication approved which costs less than the epilim! I am FURIOUS!
