Claims not sorted / paid

My father-in-law passed away in April 2017. Since then my mother-in-law started receiving notifications of unpaid / partially paid accounts from Discovery.

Since the death of my father-in-law was a shock to the entire family, but most of all my mother-in-law, I offered to assist my mother-in-law by phoning Discovery to get this sorted out.

Well, what a ride this has been!!! After numerous calls, emailing and faxing of claims by myself and service providers, only a handful of the claims have been sorted out.

Since my mother-in-law is absolutely distraught and I work full time - I am not sure how to proceed in getting these claims sorted out!!! I do not have 1.5 hours to spend on the phone every time to repeat myself to the call centre agent who is the lucky winner of answering the call.

What's even worse is that my father-in-law was the only breadwinner in the house. The estate cannot be finalised until these medical bills have been finalised.

The unnecessary pressure and problems that this has caused during an already stressed time, is absolutely inhumane! During a time that the family is meant to be mourning the loss of a loved one, we are instead constantly worrying about a matter that should have been sorted out by the medical aid that is supposedly number 1 in South Africa. Being bombarded by debt collectors for claims that the medical aid is meant to have paid.

I hope that no other patient or family member that has been left behind is going through the torment my mother-in-law, and us in tow, are currently going through!! You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!

Please can someone sort out the remainder of the claims in regards to this so that the family can finally start properly mourning the loss of a loved one? Is that really too much to ask?
