Casualty visit not covered

Went to casualty for a suspected nasal fracture. I paid R355 in order to get treated. I knew the first R355 was payable when going to casualty so it wasn't a problem for me to pay.

I was then sent to X-ray in casualty to confirm a nasal fracture before I could get treated. A few days later I receive a notification that Discovery will not be covering the X-ray cost?

I went online to do some homework. My plan (Discovery Key Care Plus) outlines the following: And I quote "Cover in any casualty unit at a Keycare hospital. You have to pay the first R355." Was it a Keycare Hospital? Check. Did I pay THE FIRST R355? Check.

It continues with "Unlimited cover for medically appropriate GP consultations, blood tests , X-rays in Keycare Networks." Medically appropriate X-ray? For a broken nose - I would think so yes. In a Keycare Network? Yes again.

After phoning Discovery I was told that there is still a list of X-rays they don't cover??? Even if you find yourself in casualty? In an emergency?

So basically none of the above statements from Discovery are true. No where near these statements outlined in my plan does it say "Refer to list of X-rays we still don't cover." I cannot even depend on this medical aid when in an emergency.

I was then also told that my GP had to refer me to get the X-ray. Are you kidding me? Does Discovery expect their clients to bleed out at home because of a broken nose that was sustained after hours because a casualty visit will not be covered? The injured person would have to wait till the following day to make and hopefully get an appointment at a GP so the GP can refer you to get the X-ray and confirm a broken nose????

Just typing this out is ridiculous. It just doesn't make sense at all.

So no Discovery, your clients don't just have to pay the first R355. We need to pay from start to finish and still cough up the monthly payments.
