Can Discovery decide on a amount and a debit order

From day one that I app**** for Discovery Medical Aid I had problems. I've send my application in 3 times before it was correct. Every time there was something short or each page needed to be signed. But none of this was told to me before hand. Ok but that was the easy part. Then the debitorder side started. What a flippen mess. First debit order went of double. I was not informed about that. R115 penalty by the bank. Then discovery phoned and asked if I want to be a vitality member, which I agreed to but they took money separately and on the 14th. Then on 2 nd of Jan14 the debitorder did not go through because there was a increase from 1 Jan. Wich I was not informed. So nearly at the end of Jan when I saw that my debitored did not go through I paid them over the Internet and then in Feb they took a double payment so another penalty by the bank. I phoned you guys to see if I cannot make a payment by Internet so the guy said yes I must send a fax. When I phoned again they said that's not allowed. Discovery you messed up from day 1. I live on a farm. Don't go to town every day and would pay my medical as I do at the end of each month when I go into the bank. Please sort this out

Hello My report ,

Thank you for your comment.

When we receive an application form the form is put through various processes. To ensure that the application was completed correctly and accurately we sometimes require additional information which we requested in your case. Once this was received the membership was activated.

The membership was activated after the bill run was finalised and we double debited on the following month as two premiums were outstanding. We did communicate to your daughter on 31/10/2014 that the premium will increase on 01/01/2015 via our Year End Revision communication. This was sent via email.

As discussed Discovery Health is a debit order Scheme and we collect premiums via a monthly debit order. We unfortunately cannot change this to accept cash payments each month. We use debit orders to collect premiums in order ensure that memberships are not suspended unnecessarily and to ensure the timeous collection of premiums.

Thank you for allowing me to assist with your query.

Kind regards
Jashvir
