********* business practice - Discovery does not honour the promise of reduced costs with lower benefit medial aid plans.

At the beginning of June this year, I changed my medical aid plan with Discovery from a Coastal Saver plan to the Key Care plan. In multiple interactions with consultants, I was quoted the lower plan costs as advertised on their website. When I took out the initial Discovery Medical Aid for my wife and children in 2023 (not including myself because I have employer medical aid), there WAS NO QUESTION OR PROOF REQUIRED OF HER INCOME (or mine) as I paid the monthly subscription. Now AFTER MANY attempts we are unable to get the benefit of the reduced costs of the Key Care plan. Discovery is now attempting to place all kinds of obstacles in the way of us getting the reduced monthly payments (SARS tax no; affidavits; proof of wife unemployment; my financial details etc.). Discovery has conveniently changed the plan from a Coastal Saver to a Key Care plan with only a very slightly reduced monthly cost to me. This is principally very ********* because I am paying for a plan that is far reduced in medical benefits for my wife and 2 children. Also, we have an MSA balance of R19000 that seems to have simply vanished from their memory. The principal issue here is that Discovery is unwilling to honour their advertised and quoted costs of lower benefit plans. They essentially prevent people who are financially constrained from reducing their monthly medical aid costs.
