BEWARE SOUTH AFRICA - DISCOVERY HEALTH IS THE WORST MEDICAL AID AROUND !!!!!

Seems like Discovery Health would prefer you not to take preventative measures to ensure you do not get cancer. We belong to Discovery Health Executive Plan. As we are on the highest plan we have not taken out gap cover. As a Vitality member you earn points by having a colonoscopy which we require due to genetic colon cancer. So we booked the surgery with our Dr of 15 years. Now we get told we need to pay a R6600 non refundable co payment ?????? I was shocked and horrified. I contacted discovery to find out why. They said it's their policy now. WELL HERE IS THE BEST PART --------- If they discover cancer or another life threatening conditioning then you can claim back the R6600 co payment from hospital benefits. So they actually make it difficult to get a colonoscopy to PREVENT CANCER and deter one from doing so with their R6600 co payment, so it seems as if they would rather pay for cancer treatment than prevention. DISCOVERY MEDICAL AID YOU ARE DISGUSTING !!!!!!
