BE WARNED NOT ALL IN HOSPITAL CLAIMS ARE PAID IN SPITE OF MOTIVATION LETTER FROM DOCTOR

I am confused with the response from Discovery Health. I had a blood test done in hospital which was not paid on the grounds that the doctor could have done other tests as Discovery does not recognise an Insulin test as conclusive. My doctor gave a motivation letter which I emailed to Discovery and Discovery's response was not PMB level of care for Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was admitted for Rheumatoid arthritis due to my complaint in hospital the doctor requested this test, is not sufficient for Discovery to pay an in-hospital claim. I think we should tell the treating doctor to please get authorisation before requesting for blood tests in hospital. It does not matter that we are dealing with our illness, we have to add on the stress of if all in- hospital claims will be paid.
