BE WARNED - DISCOVERY DOES NOT PAY FOR EVERYTHING IN HOSPITAL

I have a hospital plan and as such I expected all my in hospital bills to be paid. To my surprise, Discovery Medical Aid did not pay for my insulin resistant blood test done in hospital. I was under the impression all in hospital costs was covered by medical aid. I lodged a complaint with Discovery Medical Aid, I received a feedback that it will be paid if I could get a pre-authorisation number (message left on my cellphone). I don't know how I should get a pre-authorisation number when the incident has already occurred, my doctor did not advise me that I need to get pre-authorisation before the blood test is done either. It would have been cheaper for me to do my blood test as a cash patient. Gap cover will not pay out either because it has not been authorised. Be warned when you go to hospital to be admitted, your concern should be authorisation and not about your health.
