Be careful when getting a quote for Discovery Medical Aid from Hippo ... not sure who is at fault here....

So I needed to get Medical Aid, I contacted Hippo and got a quote from them, the least expensive one was Discovery Health at R1954-00 a month which I accepted. I asked the guy on the phone do I need to pay penalties as I didn't have a M/A for years and assured me that I would not as I was a member of Discovery before. Thought it was strange but I would understand if it was because thats the way these things work, anyway I still expected it and thought I would be contacted by Discovery if there were any penalties, needless to say the monthly payment changed from R1954-00 to R2931-00 WITHOUT anyone speaking to me nor an email... nothing.... of course I was going to query this, so I found the easiest way to do this which apparently is their WhatsApp application.... brilliant..... quick computer response that they have received my query.... then nothing... tried again.... nothing. So today 03 11 2020 I contact them and I get told thats how it works my quote goes to a committee or something and they decide that I will 34/5% more..... no consultation etc..... just thats how it is. I asked how long will this penalty payment be and the answer is thats what you will pay till you change it..... I could've paid money towards Hospitalisation if I had known this before.... so now what?
