BE AWARE!! DISCOVERY INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL POLICY MAY BE A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

I'm a Discovery Health member. Recently my spouse took a trip to Germany where she got ill and needed to consult a German general practitioner via a translator at the cost of R2 500. Needless to say that the invoices were issued in German in a GERMANY. Back in South Africa she claimed the amount, spent on the practitioner and the medical tretament, back from Discovery Health under their international travel policy which is part of our membership benefits. Discovery refused to pay the amount. The excuse they offered us was that the documents presented for the claim was in German and not in English. Be aware that if you are a Discovery Health member, DO NOT REST ASSURED that, when you travel overseas that you are covered for unexpected medical expenses. You may get a rude awakening as we did!!! They have a got a loop hole to refuse payment of your medical expense abroad. I myself are travelling shortly to Italy and if I fall ill there, I may have the same situation. PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING OVERSEAS AS A MEMBER OF DISCOVERY HEALTH.
