BAd claims administration and refusal to pay certain legitimate claims

I have been diagnosed with a serious illness, but that's why we have expensive medical aid cover right? I thought I'd be okay... But Discovery has a very complicated and ineffective claims process, designed in my view, to confuse patients so they don't query claims.

In particular, I had an operation during May, for which I duly followed all processes and got an authorization code. Discovery is now willing to pay the surgeons, but not the anesthesiologist. Really??? So I can have the operation, but you'd prefer that I be awake for it???

I have 35 pages of claims history from Discovery, and during the hours that I have spent trying to work though this I find mistakes everywhere I go, refusals to pay for no apparent reason, promises of 2 or 3 day turn around times (I logged the problem with the anesthesiologist on 11 August, it is now 13 days later and no answer!!!!!) In the meantime I run the risk of being blacklisted by all the doctors who I owe money. This is really a serious matter. Discovery seems to think its a joke.

Regarding the confusing records, their statements routinely show that I still owe doctors money, when in fact I don't!! They went as far as to admit to me on email, in writing, that certain claims are inflated! What?? Why not rather make your records accurate, enabling a person who is already struggling trying to recover and get their health sorted out to easily consolidate their claims with their invoices and gap claims and all the rest.

For a supposed industry leader Discovery is really letting me down

I received a call from Discovery saying that the anesthesiologist will be paid. I contacted the anesthesiologist to let them know, but according to them they also called Discovery today and we're told the claim is still not approved. I need written confirmation that the claim will be paid, and if you are not going to tell the service provider then at least I can FW it to them. The issue of inflated claims and incorrect info on claims statements remains unresolved.
