Bad attitude and no feedback
I recently had surgery and have the letter from Discovery telling me that all codes were approved, even after the codes changed slightly. I also have a screen printout from the website, telling me that the FULL hospital bill would be paid and a nil balance. No mention of any co-payments on the letter I received - it just says APPROVED next to each code.

7 days after the operation, I get a notification telling me I must pay a co-payment of R 5600. 45 minutes on the phone gave me no joy - in fact the call centre supervisor was almost arrogant, asking what I expected on the plan that I have? (At over R30K a year, I am not on a cheap plan!)

I lodged an enquiry with a reference number, even followed up a few days later but I still have no feedback from Discovery a week later. They just couldn't be bothered!

So now I have all the stress of a huge, unexpected co-payment, along with trying to recover from surgery.

Thanks, Discovery - it's good to know how much I am valued as a client!
Thank you for your comment.
We confirmed that when you request for hospital admission and we approve it, the funding of the claims are based on your chosen plan type and the Scheme rules. For certain procedures on your plan, there would be an upfront payment. We discussed the details of your admission and requested additional clinical information to further review.
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience experienced.
