Back date medical aid premiums l was not covered for
I am very upset with Discovery!
Dec'19 l started a new job. My new company asked their discovery broker to transfer my medical aid membership to their name since l was already a discovery member. In Feb 2020, l noticed that my medical aid portfolio is blank on the app. When l enquired about my blank medical aid, the lady known as Shehaam Lee (discovery broker) confirmed that she can't find any documents pertaining my transfer. It was clear that they failed to action my transfer when they were asked via email in Nov'19. The discovery lady then asked me to sign forms again, state what plan l would like to take and resend. I completed the forms as requested and forwarded them immediately. That was 18 Feb 2020.
To my suprise, on the 25 March 2020, Discovery deducts a huge lump from my salary, claiming it's medical aid premiums backdated as from Dec'2019.
I have never heard of back-dating medical aid premiums. When l asked about this, Sheehaam Lee then rep**** that l was covered. This reply doesn't make sense in so many ways.
When l asked about my blank profile in feb'2020, she confirmed via email that she couldn't find any documents pertaining my transfer.
She further asked me to specify a plan l would like to take.
How was l covered when there were no documents pertaining my medical aid transfer?
Why did l have to resign a contract again on the 18 Feb 2020 and resend?
Why am l billed only in March '2020, four month worth of premiums?
I believe what Discovery did is ******** for back-dating premiums and bill me for months that l was not covered for.
From a reputable company like Discovery, I am very disappointed.
