Avoiding claim payments at all cost

I recently had a seizure and was refered to a specialist. Discovery agreed to pay over R3000 to cover any expenses that I'd incur, in order to establish the diagnosis. When I called in at their call centre to confirm the procedure regarding claim payback I was assured that I would have the money transfered into my account 2 days after I emailed my receipts through. Under this assumption I went ahead and forked out the money to fit the bills from my own pocket. I guess I shouldn't be have been surprised when I received an email ( from a "non reply" email address) days later advising payment could not be made and statement would need to be emailed, yet the only point of contact I was supp**** was an 0860 number. How am I supposed to email a phone number and why was I given misleading advice? These payments were a once off and staments are therefore not given. It seems this medical aid will do anything to worm their way out of paying out. This begs the question, what in the world do I pay them for?
