Appreciation

After a back and forth between myself and discovery representative Mr Gabriel Joseph . Eventually everything got sorted. My appreciation to him for his efforts. In the same vain I could not believe my eyes yesterday when I received a rejection of application on behalf of my wife. She is extremely sick and the General Practitioner is seriously worried. She has been to various specialist paid out of my own pocket. They are still unable to give a proper diagnosis. The GP submitted every documentation proving the extent to which we have been trying to deal with her illness. Discovery yesterday rejected the application regardless of the documentation and blood results from the GP. I am beginning to think that they do not see us as people but as numbers. To me that is worrying

I could not believe my eyes on Friday when I received a rejection of application on behalf of my wife. She is extremely sick and the General Practitioner is seriously worried. My wife forms part of the essential services, as a result she can't stay home. For a couple of years now we have been to various specialist paid out of my own pocket. We even consulted with a pulmonary specialist, who could not offer a diagnosis. All of this including the scans were given to our GP. The GP submitted every documentation proving the extent to which we have been trying to deal with her illness. Discovery on Friday rejected the application regardless of the documentation and blood results including blood count which came back with extremely worrying results from the GP.IuponIsubmission. I had a telephonic conversation with one of the agents of Discover, in viewing the documentation the person said 'why didn't you earlier' my response was I was not aware that Discovery will cover this as most of the money came out of the MSA once depleted I had to pay from my personal pocket. This gave me hope that at least someone at Discovery understands and has emphathy.
On the contrary, I am beginning to think that they do not see us as people but as numbers. How can a GP be worried about the health of a person. Then a bunch of 'so-called specialist' fail to at least see the urgency of the matter? To me that is worrying.

One of the things that I wondering about is the speciality of these Dr's that sign their documents. I just googled one of them and nothing on Google appears about the person's qualifications and speciality. They are all executive of something. Discovery needs to account to its members as for me I want to know the speciality of whomever they use to review my application. This is paramount, lack of knowledge in the field can lead to disastrous outcomes.

Someone from Discovery called me and basically read from the note book what was already in front of me and they call that service? Since my response to him with questions he could not answer. I am still waiting for answers. They are basically saying to me, we should start all over again, blood tests, X-rays the lot. With whose money? As it is my MSA is on R 4000.00 that's the rate of specialists. How about other tests? So, as far as I am concerned Discovery medical aid scheme doesn't care for its clients and yet they portray themselves as the best in the industry. I'm tired of this, it's draining and exhausting.

They did it again. They require my wife to undergo the same tests that the doctor has submitted to them. They do not even take it to cognizance that all of these tests which by the way were done in February 2020 cost money. As it is I owe a lung specialist over R 1.000. Discovery has got a face. When black doctors matched against it for ******, I thought to myself they are unreasonable now I know what they meant. ****** is like power is changes itself and yet it still operates within the same confines of what is and what appears to be. They can keep their PMB. But one thing for sure is if my wife were to contract COVID-19 and dies, they better be prepared. It is time that these scheme are exposed for what they are. We need to have the boldness like the Americans and sue them. They know South Africans let sleeping dogs lie. The South African constitution says every citizen has a right to medical care. I wonder to what extend is these regulations that they claim which by the way are not from the government are compliant with the constitution? I say to Discovery you are the worst medical scheme, that I have come across.
