Appauling service from Discovery Health

After completing a vitality health checkup at Dischem in October 2017, i found out that my cholesterol level was gradually increasing. I the scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist Dr J Mckibben inf February 2018. After performing several tests as well as Coronary artery calcium score which was found to be slightly high 27.69. The doctor recommended that i begin a statin treatment since i have a family history of high cholesterol and i did try to lower my levels with diet and exercise but this did not help much. I decided to try eat eat ven healthier over the next few months and redo my cholesterol test. On the 1st of June I went to another cardiologist (DR N Maharaj)to have my test done as well as a second opinion. My cholesterol levels had increased from February 2018 to June 2018 despite my regular exercise and diet. Dr Maharaj strongly recommended that i go on a statin drug as diet and exercise was certainly not helping. The necessary forms was filled out as the receptionist app**** for me to be on chronic medication. Two weeks have gone by and only now i find out that Discovery Health will not approve my statin drug to be chronic. Even after 2 cardiologists strongly recommend that i be on statins. Statins should form part of chronic medication and i cannot see why they have refused this benefit. Totally disappointed and disgusted with feedback and response from Discovery Health (Candice Richards)
