Appalling and misleading service

I am currently on the most expensive medical aid plan under discovery health- The Executive plan. Until recent times, my finances got impaired and as such i have been unable to pay for my premiums for the month ending May 2016.

On the 13 June 2016, i called my medical aid to inform them of my situation. I called on two occasions where i spoke to two conultants about the matter. Earlier during that day, the first consultant gave me other mediacl aid options. I said i needed to review them and would call to confirm which plan i was going forward with. I called later that day and informed the consultant of my situation. She then said that they would make the change however i still needed to settle the invoice for the previous month. I expained my situation and she asked me to hold while she consulted. She came back on the line and confirmed the following;

- My medical aid plan will be changed from the executive to classic saver

- This option will be effective from the 1 June 2016 provide i;

1) Paid the full classic saver premium

2) Sent them an official letter requesting the change.

I on the same day comp**** and sent them the requirements as per my telecon.

On the 15 June 2016 i received an email saying that my premium was allocated accordingly however,

1. My new plan and change would only be effective from the 1 July 216 as they neeed 30 days to make the change,

2. My medical aid remains suspended as i still owe them eleven thousand odd from the unpaid premium of May 2016

I found this to have been extremely devious and a somewhat extotion of my money. I received confirmation from discovery and its consultant. Now that i paid them, they could not care less to honour their commnuication. After attempting to remedy the situation via emails, on the 17 June 2016, i received another email confirming that they remain "unresolved" from their decesion.

As i am writing this email i have no medical aid cover. Dicovery has over R18 000 in my medical aid saving's and i have three other depandants that rely on this medical aid.

I am beyond disgruntled and will be lodging a case against discovery health with the ombudsman.
