Ambiguous membership retention
My daughter turned 21 in Nov'15. Prior to this I made enquiries regarding her membership subsequent to her reaching 21. I was advised that she would be covered until the end of 2015, but at the start of 2016 her membership would be based on certain criteria. I was then shocked to learn that Discovery automatically retained her membership at adult rates without the relative criterion being met. Therefore this action negated alternative membership from a cost perspective which placed me out of pocket. This was also done without so much as a sms notifying me of this action. This action, in my view, makes no sense, because if membership is subject to certain criteria, then membership should automatically be suspended until the criteria is met. This allows the member the option to either continue membership once criteria has been met, or seek alternative medical cover. In this instance I was not afforded the opportunity. My daughter does not meet qualifying criteria and would require her own medical cover. I require immediate termination, and adjustment of the medical rate for Jan'16.
