ADHD not considered chronic and concerta not on preferred medicine list

<p>I have now checked with other medical aid companies and most have ADHD listed as a chronic condition. (At least in children under 18). </p> <p> </p> <p>Also, once diagnosed by a Psychiatrist, concerta is not on the preferred medicine list and is subject to a co-payment once you are in ATB at 75% of the cost. </p> <p> </p> <p>I find it particularly problematic that a medication that is prescribed by a legitimate medical practitioner which doesn't seem to have a generic equivalent and which is required to be taken on an ongoing basis is not considered chronic or attract preferred status. </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
