A joke of a medical aid who cares more about their Sandton Flying Saucer than their patients

Went to the GP due to continuous vomiting and diarrhoea, no eating. He did a urine test and said I am severely dehydrated and no energy and way behind where I should be. He said he could give me a drip in his rooms but it wouldn’t be enough. That I am so bad that I would need the fluids drip overnight. He booked me in at the hospital, we went across to the hospital and to admissions and do we not have to sit there for over 30 minutes because the Discovery clerk (with no doctors degree behind his name) behind the desk must decide if I must be admitted or not. NEVERMIND the fact that a certified doctor has admitted me and that I pay R4500 per month for medical aid. NO I must sit there while he decides. That is an absolute joke. You don’t see any other ‘clerks’ from other medical aids in SA standing behind the counters of every hospital deciding whether he should overrule the decision of the doctor as to whether a paying medical aid patient should be admitted. But then again other medical aids also don’t need to make sure they can save every penny so that they can keep up appearances of their massive Sandton offices. ON TOP of this. While I am sick he comes into my room to tell me how all my tests are clear so I didn’t need to be here and he also phoned my doctor and tells my doctor the same thing. Is this what I deserve while I am sick in bed? To be questioned continuously by a medical aid I pay over R4k for a year??? I don’t know why my tests aren’t showing anything I don’t know what is happening, all I know is that I am sick and needed help. I hate hospitals. Trust me, I wouldn’t be in here if I didn’t really need it. Discovery is such an embarrassment I can’t. Nothing they do or special rugby players that they host at their offices or whatever they try to do to show how amazing they are, nothing can hide the reality of that place behind the curtains. It is just about making money off of people and then not fulfilling their contract when people are vulnerable and ill. You should be ashamed of yourself. I am delighted to say I will be moving medical aids after this experience.
