3 Months waiting Period
I have just moved from one Medical Aid Scheme to Discovery and due to a 3 Month waiting period imposed by them, Discovery is not prepared to pay for the consultation to a Psychiatrist not only for the consultation but also to receive a new script. What does Discovery prefer, the consultation or hospitalization due to lack of medication. This is the only medical aid that I know of that does not accept responsibility for important medical consultatuions that affect the every day life of its members. Next stop for me the Medical Aids Council. REAL USELESS MEDICAL AID.

I confirmed that applications received are subject to underwriting and where needed the Scheme may place a waiting period. The waiting period placed on your membership was valid according to the underwriting protocols. However, you still have access to the Prescribed Minimum Benefit (PMB) for conditions which meet funding from the PMB.
I sent you an email with further information on how you can apply for additional funding for the treatment you require.
