3 Month Waiting Period Blues
I'm not really here to complain about Discovery's service because it is an amazing Medical Aid Scheme. I've always received help when I needed it. For my kids, my husband, myself. I was with the scheme for over 9 years while I was working. But sadly had to switch to a cheaper provider when COVID19 hit & becoming a SAHM was a better option as I had ust had my second child in 2019 & my job was making parenthood too difficult.
But I told my husband, I will rejoin Discovery when it is financially possible for us. We were with our cheaper provider for under 2 years when we decided we could afford returning to Discovery. This meant having a 3 month waiting period imposed. I didn't forsee any issues with that at the time.
Today I'm sitting with the most incredible pain in my jaw due to a problem wisdom tooth that arose just after we left our previous provider. We can't afford to pay for the appointments & surgery out of our pocket so I am waiting for July when our waiting period is over so that I can get rid of the agony I'm going through.
Again, I am not saying Discovery is a terrible service & I do understand the 3 month waiting period.
I just feel that an exception could be made in a case where someone has been with the scheme for years, left due to financial reasons but returned when possible. Only difference this time os that my husband is the main member of the scheme & not myself.
I'm just really sad that there isn't much I can do right now but wait in immense pain :(

I know there's probably no way of bypassing that waiting period, but thanking whoever took the time to read my post :')
