2,5 weeks for a response on a new application

I app**** to become a new Discovery Medical Aid member. It took the consultant 2,5 weeks to report back on my application, and that was only because I contacted him. After all the effort and time, they app**** a 3 month waiting period onto my policy, after not having a break in medical aid membership for more than 10 years. The consultant also offered me the wrong information about the plans available to join. Their customer service is pathetic! and the call centre supervisor, Deneo is even more lethargic and unhelpful! Thanks for the waste of time!

Hello M3gh@n,

Thank you for your comment.

A three month general waiting period is app**** in the case where members have belonged to a previous medical scheme for a period of two years or more and have app**** to join Discovery Health less than 90 days since the date of termination from their previous scheme. These members will have access to Prescribed Minimum Benefits during their three month general waiting period. Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMB's) is a set of minimum benefits that, by law, must be provided to all medical scheme members. The cover it gives includes the diagnosis, treatment and cost of ongoing care for a list of conditions.
