19 Mar 2026, 17:31Hi Nancy,
I’m sorry to hear how frustrating this was, especially when you had a valid duplicate ID and another company nearby accepted it. I understand why this would feel unfair and inconsistent.
Because DiscoverCars.com is a car rental comparison platform (not the rental company), the document check is ultimately done at the rental supplier’s counter, and each supplier can set and enforce its own ID rules for vehicle release. Many suppliers require an original, physical government-issued ID and may refuse duplicates, even if they can be used for other purposes like flying.
That said, we’d like to look into what happened in your specific case and check the rental conditions shown for your booking to confirm what ID was accepted and whether this was handled correctly. Please email us at ******* with your booking number and link to this review, and we’ll investigate and advise you on the next steps.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
