Poor Quality Product and Warranty period

I purchased a couch from Discount Decor in November 2016 (1 year 4 months ago). The couch was aprrox. R17,000. The couch is now squeeking and needs repairs.

My consern is the quality of the products sold by Discount Decor as well as the warranty provided on their items. After a year, the couch has a default. Does Discount Decor sell items to last for 1 year only?

Discount Decor insisted that the warranty on the couch is 1 year, but no one advised us of this. Also, on the invoice it does not specify the warranty period.

Furthermore, their customer service is poor and their manager doesnt know how to formally respond to email concerns.

I contacted Discount Decor in March 2018 regarding repairs to a couch and the warranty period. Until now i have not received a reply iro my questions below.

Discount Decor needs to advise/prove that the consumer is made aware of the warranty period on the item, as this was not advised at sales point.

Also, my invoice states that the item is under guarantee but does not specify for how long. How is the consumer to know how long the guarantee period is for the items purchased, if it is not clearly stated ?

I spent alot of money for the couch only to realise that it is a poor quality product.

The Consumer Protection Act, requires suppliers to be clear on terms and conditions and I believe that Discount Décor has not comp**** with this and therefore should assist with the repair free of charge. Otherwise the matter will be escalated to the Ombudsman for their further opinion.
