Looks can be deceiving
A venue was rented at this hotel for a school function. At first glance the place is pretty with a sparkling pool however.... On arrival at 6pm for our function the power was out and we were told that the generator does not work, the power was not restored until 9pm even though the surrounding area had power. No apology received from management for this disaster and no-one checked on the guests or provided assistance as the parents and grandparents and children were stumbling around in the dark. This "Hotel" considered welcoming drinks a filthy container with hot tap water served in odd, some chipped, glasses from 1973. In an attempt to be posh, the food was served on slate tiles but it looked more like the slate was still someones roof tile or floor covering a few hours ago. It was chipped, with sharp edges, grubby with dust collecting in some of the cracks. The food was terrible, and instantly cold on the disgusting slate tiles. They served barely defrosted veg but promised rousted vegetables, the "roast chicken" was boiled, the meatball had suspect spaghetti inside which appeared to be the lunchtime leftovers. The spinach was a sticky mess, but guests found the hot water served to us at the start a soothing relief just to get it down. The rice was cooked to oblivion and a grainy flop and the gravy on the menu... well.... totally M.I.A!!! To crown the evening, they charged R20 a soft drink, but surely guests were willing to pay R50 just to get rid of the taste of this utterly disgusting meal I would not serve to my worst enemy. Another first from this "Posh" menu..... the dessert! Described as a chocolate fondant on their menu and you could see some of the more optimistic guests' eyes lit up as they read this. Surprise surprise, a dry chocolate ****in served upside down with a watery caramel sauce and melted ice cream. Rather a Dish**** sponge and the coolish liquid used to sooth our tortured mouths! Will in my lifetime not recommend this Hotel to anyone unless it is April and you feel a joke coming on...
