Worst Vaccination Experience at Dis-Chem George Garden Route!

I would like to formally lodge a complaint regarding an incident that occurred this morning at Dis-Chem during my daughter’s six-week vaccination appointment. The past six weeks have been particularly challenging as I adjust to life as a first-time mother, recover physically, and ensure that I meet all my responsibilities as a parent. Attending my daughter’s first vaccination was already an emotionally difficult experience, and while I understood that it might be distressing, I had hoped for a professional, calm, and compassionate interaction. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The nurse who assisted us during this extremely vulnerable moment was not gentle in her approach. The injection was administered forcefully, causing my daughter severe distress. She screamed excessively and appeared to stop breathing briefly, which was deeply alarming and, in my view, unacceptable. This experience has completely undermined my trust in Dis-Chem to provide safe and compassionate care during such critical moments. It is not how a six-week-old infant should be treated, nor is it how new parents should be supported during their first vaccination appointment. This was not the experience we expected or deserved. As a result of this incident, we will not be returning to Dis-Chem for future vaccinations or related services. I believe this matter warrants serious attention, as no parent should have to endure such a traumatic experience when entrusting a healthcare professional with their child’s wellbeing.
