OVER PAYING AN ACCOUNT....****!!!!!

My Mom took a R37 000 loan in Sep 2017 , her account get debited R1600 every month since 2017 and she was told that her loan will finish in 2022....I find this to be a **** to pay R96 000 to pay off a R37 000 loan ...that is triple the amount !!!!!!!!!!! I have never heard of this in any institution , Can someone assist with this ASAP
