Account Closure

I need to close my account as my balance has been settled. The consultant confirmed the there was no amount due but they still require me to send a proof of payment.

I advised the agent that I do not have proof of payment because I did a direct payment from my FNB account. Today I get an email requesting a bank statement!

Bank statements only get sent out at the beginning of each month so this means that my account will stay as is until I receive my statement from the bank. Meanwhile they will be adding charges to an account with a zero balance.

If you can see that I've settled the account, why do I still need to send proof of payment? If for whatever reason I cannot get a POP, will my account not be closed? Will I pay for a non existent loan indefinitely?

Hello P****lo,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused in the process of trying to get your account closed.   Thank you for your settlement payment, when requesting to have your account settled, a settlement amount is calculated instructing the account to prepare for closure.  The closure process takes up to 10 business days for the account to be closed and a paid-up letter is then drafted and sent to you. We’d be happy to assist, you are required to send us the proof of payment as it is a banking requirement.   You may email all of the above to *** so that we can pass it onto our support team to speed up the process.
