Who watches the watchers? DMASA not to be trusted.

1. You have to register on their website providing them with all the data you do not want distributed. Why so much Data? 2. I have to have an email address to unsubscribe. I do not want an email address. Why this limitation? 3. How do I now DMASA does not use this data to sell it to others? 4. The Opt Out only lasts 3 years. Why? I will opt back in when and where I want to. Not when it suits the DMASA. 5. The so called complaints manager is unable to deal with the above complaints by telephone and refuses to escalate the issue. 6. This service (opt out) is only applicable to companies that support the DMASA. This means it is not compulsory to all companies in South Africa. You will still be pestered even though you opted out.

All of the above leads to a serious lack of transparency, accountability and efficacy on the part of the DMASA. Information is big business and money speaks.
